Invent clever puzzles. Build an unforgettable adventure. Then invite someone to play.
The Escape Room Factory turns your child into a puzzle designer, storyteller, builder, and host. Across ten connected creative missions for ages 8–12, they move from solving their first paper escape challenge to designing, testing, improving, and hosting a game for family or friends.
Children begin with ciphers, logic puzzles, number patterns, and map routes. Then they learn what makes a clue fair, how to write clear instructions, and how to connect their ideas into a real four-station paper escape adventure. No special locks, apps, electronics, or purchased escape-room props are required.
Two supported pathways
Studio Mode: Customize The Midnight Signal. Start with a ready-to-play tabletop lighthouse adventure, complete with four puzzle stations, a player passport, a final console, station signs, gentle hints, invitations, and a sealed-paper FINISH reveal. Your child makes the story and presentation their own, then adds one tested original bonus station or replaces one model station with a tested puzzle of their own.
Creator Mode: Build an entirely original escape game. Use the guided planning pages to design four original, independently testable puzzles. Blank station cards, a custom player passport and console, signs, hint cards, a FINISH card, and a private host answer sheet help turn those ideas into a playable experience.

A finished experience your child can proudly share
The grand finale is a playable paper escape game—not just a finished workbook. Your child sets up the stations, welcomes a team of 1–4 players, explains the rules, helps without giving away the discovery, and delivers the final reveal. They can show their strongest puzzle and explain how feedback helped them improve it.
Along the way, they practice creative writing, logical reasoning, math, visual communication, empathy for players, organization, revision, and confident hosting. The guide supports adults who have never taught ciphers or designed an escape game before.
Flexible mission pacing
Missions can be spread over weeks; there is no daily requirement. Plan roughly 40–75 minutes for most missions; the building mission may take 50–90 minutes. These are planning estimates, not guaranteed completion times. The grand opening includes a suggested 20–35 minute play window, which can be adjusted to suit the players. A countdown is optional, never required.
Low-ink printing and ordinary supplies
The files are designed for US Letter printing. Keep the adult guide digital if you prefer. Its mission-by-mission print map tells you which Student Studio and Game Kit pages to use for the pathway you choose—there is no need to print every game page for both modes.
At home, gather paper, pencils, 5–10 ordinary envelopes, scissors, tape or a glue stick, a storage folder, and a flat play surface. Cardstock and simple decorative materials are optional. A fresh practice tester is needed for playtesting, followed by 1–4 family or friend players for the opening. Printing, stationery, physical props, and players are not included in the digital download.
An escape game—not a locked room
No person is ever physically locked in. Never lock, block, or conceal a real exit. Players may stop, ask for help, or leave at any time. Use clearly marked, accessible play areas; no blindfolds, darkness, candles, smoke, cords, or climbing. Adults supervise scissors and small pieces, check solutions privately, and confirm the setup is safe before play. Read clues aloud or share roles when helpful; cooperative success counts.
Solve it. Design it. Test it. Host it. One clear clue at a time.
This is a digital download. No printed books, physical escape-room kit, or other physical supplies will be shipped.
