Capable Launch: High School Life Skills is a complete 144-day digital life-skills course for grades 9–12 (approximately ages 14–18). It is built for the years when the stakes stop being hypothetical — when a student is about to sign a lease, accept a paycheck, choose a path after graduation, and manage their own health, money, and commitments.
This course asks more than a middle-school program does. Students make evidence-based decisions, write professional documents, work through multi-step calculations, verify claims against official sources, and finish with a complete adult-launch portfolio they can actually use.
Capable Launch is a stand-alone life-skills course, not a full academic curriculum. It works alongside any homeschool program, private school, public school, co-op, or dual-enrollment plan. The course contains exactly 144 numbered instructional days organized into 36 four-day Life Skill Labs, each producing one named portfolio artifact.
Each of the 144 days opens with a required 10–15 minute Morning Mindset before the lesson begins — a short, steady readiness practice that settles a student's attention before real work starts. It is not a warm-up worksheet. It is the habit that makes the rest of the day usable.
Every four-day lab follows the same dependable rhythm. On Learn It day, the student studies the terms and a complete worked example. On Practice It day, the student works the same process with changed facts. On Use It day, the student applies it to a fictional or genuinely low-risk situation. On Life Lab day, the student completes a purpose-built tool, checks it against four quality criteria, names the weakest section, makes one specific improvement, and files the finished artifact.
Morning Mindset takes 10–15 minutes. Most lessons take 40–55 minutes. A complete day usually takes 50–70 minutes.
Both pacing paths use the same 144 days in the same order. The One-Year Path covers four course days per week for 36 weeks — one complete Life Skill Lab every week. The Four-Year Path covers one course day per week, with Parts 1–4 becoming Years 1–4, so the course becomes a steady life-skills strand running from ninth grade through graduation.

Students read, calculate, compare, draft, and check their own work without an adult inventing the assignment. But independence is not the same as being left alone with adult consequences. Every lesson is marked clearly: some pages are fully independent, some require an adult's final review before any real contract, account, application, or health decision, and some require adult permission or supervision outright. Real payments, work, transportation, tools, legal documents, and health care always stay inside a stated adult boundary.
Whenever a lesson touches accounts, pay, taxes, credit, health, identity, housing, or legal notices, the course supplies fictional data. Students never write passwords, account numbers, tax identifiers, or medical records into the workbook. Real documents belong in the family's own secure location; the portfolio holds process evidence instead. Fictional work is not lesser work — it is the safe way to prove a skill before the stakes are real.
The package supplies a full scope and sequence, day and time records, portfolio evidence, annual reviews, and a certificate of completion. Because course-credit rules vary by state, school, umbrella program, and family, the course does not award or guarantee high-school credit — it gives you the documented work to compare against the rules that apply to your student.
Families do not need to purchase an outside book, subscription, job, bank account, credit file, lease, college application, or smartphone to complete the written course.

It teaches what a transcript never covers: reading a paycheck, comparing an APR, renting a first apartment, navigating health care, recognizing a scam, and planning the twelve months after graduation.
It slots alongside whatever your student already uses — homeschool curriculum, private school, public school, co-op, or dual enrollment — either as a focused four-day-a-week year or as one day a week from ninth grade through twelfth.
